Providing Education

Education is critical to life and especially the next generation. It is the foundation upon which a fair, equitable and sane society rests.

It is a necessary tool for social empowerment as it plays a vital role in all spheres and stages of life. As technology develops and knowledge grows exponentially, qualitative and adaptable education becomes a fundamental human right. It is mission critical for Balm of Joy foundation to ensure that every child is afforded the opportunity and access to quality education. Most people in the villages and the remote areas of Africa and especially Ghana live below the poverty level. Balm of Joy Foundation therefore provides educational materials ranging from bags, stationery, notebooks and scholarships to talented indigent students. In addition, Balm of Joy Foundation has partnered with several organizations and charities to provide career counselling and career development awareness symposia and workshop to young adult students.

BRINGING CHANGE TO OUR WORLD BY

SUPPORTING WIDOWS & THE POOR

Empowering others

The loss of a loved one is a traumatic and life-altering experience which often leads to emotional turmoil and a never-ending feeling of anguish.

The situation of widows is made worse in Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa especially because of age-old cultural beliefs and practices. In most cultures, a woman who loses her husband has presumed the killer or the harbinger of the husband’s death. The family members typically descend on the deceased’s estate and strip the widow of all assets and wealth. The thinking is that the family cannot lose their son (especially if he is the bread winner and dies intestate) and lose his asset. No thought or consideration is spared for the surviving children, the widow, his estate and if any, his liabilities. In some cases, the widow is made to drink very toxic herbal concoctions for purification and to prove her innocence. Balm of Joy seeks such widows and provide opportunities to become economically independent while providing palliatives and succor to help them re-develop their sense of self-worth and dignity. We reach out to widows in churches, villages and sometimes through invitation by interested communities

ENABLING PROGRESS

THE PATH OUT OF POVERTY BEGINS WHEN THE NEXT GENERATION CAN ACCESS QUALITY HEALTHCARE AND A GREAT EDUCATION.

The hallmark of the African spirit is displayed in the sense of community and kinship evident in every village, town and city. There is an abiding sense of unity and this makes it easy to prosecute and execute development projects. Balm of Joy scopes and researches the most urgent needs of the most indigent communities in Ghana and develops the requisite project either meet the need or ameliorate the situation. Balm of Joy’s Modus Operandi is to recruit source materials and labour from the host community and contract artisans and tradesmen from the same environment. A quasi-circular economy is thereby generated, and value is created within the community. Balm of Joy has been involved in road renovations, motorization of road, class-room extension projects, e.t.c.
